Hello,
I have been reading a lot on planted tanks and C02 injectors, and I was wondering do I need one or would I be OK with just my lights and filters? I have a 37 gal tank with a Marineland bio-wheel and a top fin filter, and I am fixing to add pool filter sand and probably take the top fin filter out and go with another bio-wheel. I only have 4 guppy fry, and wanted to do everything right before I start adding anymore fish. I am using a fluorescent bulb 6500k. Are there any plants that dont need a C02 injector (small, medium, and large ones)? Is a C02 injector load, because the tank os my bedroom and didn't want a very load thing huming? Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance. |

There are plenty plants that do not REQUIRE C02 however, it will definitely benefit any plant. Out of personal experience, practically any moss will survive and potentially thrive without any additional C02 injections. I've managed to harvest quite an amount of java moss without any C02, only a fluorescent light bulb. Also I've heard that Marimo Balls are very hardy and do not require much. Your 6500k fluorescent bulb will provide more than enough to stimulate growth in the previously listed plants.
If you're looking to grow some other plants however, you may have to look into some method of injecting C02 into your tank. It is actually even quite possible to build your own C02 system. Hope this helps ![]()

Very few plants require you to have CO2. Some of the more difficult ones do. The requirement for CO2 is driven more by your light and yours would not require you to have it.
