Hi I hava a 30 gal long with an agrosun growlight fixture wich I modified to be safe for my aquarium. It has 1 20 watt t12 5850k bulb and 1 20 watt phillips plant and aquarium bulb from home depot and would like to know what types of plants would be good for this setup. Oh and Im gonna be using a layer of eco complete under a layer of gravel so they root better.

Java fern, mosses, vals, wisteria, anubias. Your tank would be considered low light so search for low light aquarium plants and see what you find.

Good morning Paul. You have some good plant suggestions already. Any of the standard stems will work. Water Sprite, Rotala, Pennywort and Ludwigia are good examples.
I use a good liquid fertilizer in my low light tanks and the plants do very well. Research the internet for aquarium plant ferts and find one with a good nutrient base. I use a different liquid every few months, just to give my plants a variety. Just a suggestion, avoid using Seachem's Flourish Excel if you want Vallisneria, mosses or ferns. This fert has a form of carbon that's toxic to these plants. Others seem to do very well with it. BBradbury

Most swords will grow in fairly low light also. Never had a prob with mosses using excel and have dosed it really heavy at times, java moss anyway.

Hello again. Nutrafin's product is good for starters. I used it when I first started dosing my plants. It's a little pricey and you don't get very much and if you dose two to three times per week like I do, the cost can add up. There are others out there I think are better.
I currently use Yamato Green, it's as good a liquid fert as any. BBradbury
