I just got a 29gal that I'm going to move everything in my 10gal to. Currently I have 3 bunches of anacharis, two bunches of what I think I remember being called wisteria ?) and two small plants with broad wide leaves on them, probably 8-10 leaves per plant.
If what I'm calling the wisteria plant is right, I hate it. It is constantly shedding it's tiny little leaves and creates a constant mess of floating leaves in the tank. Can someone give me 2-3 good plant suggestions, medium to low level growing plants that don't have the itsy-bitty tiny leaves on them ? Also I'll need a good source to order such plants from, my local Petsmart and PetCo carries wilted, sick looking stuff, if you order something from them, it takes 2-3 weeks for them to get it. Thanks again....... Rick |

it is wisteria, it could be just the change from teh store to your tank, i dont remember mine ever doing that, the plant in the secound pic you have with the white strips on the sides of leaves is not a aquatic plant i dont belive, i have seen them at petsmart and they have it labled wrong
what you could be seeing is the anacharis leaves comming off, mine did that after i have several stems of it in my first tank

Yeah, I put that white stripped one in there over a month ago, someone mentioned then that it was not going to make it as it wasn't an underwater plant, but its going strong and actually has a good root base starting..... I'm just watching it closely for it getting sick looking. That wisteria is driving me banana's though......

yeah, it's the wisteria, I've moved the anacharis a couple of times and it's stable..... you can just bump the wisteria and there's just a bunch of leaves come flying out of it.......

OK, well I'm going to go ahead and cut it way back and hopefully it'll perk up and stop shedding.

OK, may have just made a mistake, but it's over with and if they croak..... Oh well.....
Decided while it's fresh on my mind to go ahead and do my water change this week, took the tank down to 50% and uprooted both wisteria's. Both plants were approx 8-10 inches tall and it seemed from about halfway down, the leaves were more fragile, the tops appeared to be healthy and growing. I stripped all the leaves up within about 4 inches of the top, then cut the stems about halfway up. Of course this severed the roots that were on them, but it appeared the roots were growing out of the bottom stems where they had been cut once before, so tied them back up and sunk the now 4 inch tall plants back into the gravel..... we'll see what happens. Did my water change and OMG...... It took another 45 minutes of standing there adn picking the floating leaves out that had shed during this disruption process. |
