Can someone help me identify this. I thought it was a type of sword? How should it be planted?
(note - the picture is sideways, sorry 'bout that. It should be rotated 90 degrees clockwise). I'm having a bunch of trouble with a couple plants in my tank. 36g Bow Nova Extreme 2xT5HO light No CO2 1.5" depth gravel substrate with some flourite mixed in (but mostly gravel) Water temp between 79.5 - 80.5 degrees After months I'm not getting very good growth, most of my plant leaves are yellowing / browning. Java ferns aren't doing well Amazon Sword isn't doing well Others I don't know the names of aren't really doing well I started using Excel as a liquid fertilizer last week - no noticeable improvement. |

Are your plants getting plenty of light? Does your tap/tank water have high Nitrates? Are you over fertilizing? Do you have very high hardnes? Is your ph really high (8.0) or low(6.0)? Try making extensive water changes. The problem with plants is they react slowly to changing water conditions, both good and bad. Add some tough plants like Val and Java Fern and see how they do.

I do have high pH here in texas - 8.0 - 8.2. Nitrates are very low.
I don't believe I'm over fertilizing. I just started last week - the plants I've had for a couple months unsuccessfully ... I do have two java ferns and they aren't doing all that well either |

By the looks of it, its a poor speciaman of Anubias Lanceolata which needs to be tied to wood or something and not buried.
