Default NEW T5HO lighing

got new lighting for 54 gallon acrylic today, its a Marineland T5 HO 48inch 4 bulb setup, you can have 2 or 4 lights on it has dual fans 1 on each end of it, i know running 4 bulbs is not a good idea for the tank, im only gonna run 2 of them its pretty cool and great addition to the aquarium, BEST PART IT WAS FRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE FREE FREE

Definitely, you don't need more than 2. My fixture on my 75g only has 2-48", 54W bulbs and that is more than enough for anything. What type of bulb is in it? They sort of look like they have a blue-ish tint.

It is up to you and what you like. 6500k and 10000k bulbs are the most common and the plant growth is not any different. I use all 6500k because I like how bright it makes my tank look. Didn't like the 10000k light too much.

I don't plan to replace any of my bulbs until they give out. There is way to much conflicting info out there that says replace them every year and just as much saying ignore that. My feeling is if my light is already pretty high, over time if I loose a few lumens or whatever, it's not going to hurt me.
