Default New plants

Before I get my tank set up I want to get some freshwater plants and start a small planted tank. To do this I have a 1 1/2g antique solid (no seams) glass tank. My main question is about getting plants that are snail free. I have seen packets of snail free plants at Petsmart. I asked what they use to clean the plants, they said they use salt. Does a salt water bath kill off snails and their eggs? Has anyone seen these packets? What do you think about getting plants marked snail free? By the way these are growing plants in that water gel stuff, not bulbs.

Default Re: New plants

I've gotten those emersed gel-packed plants all the time, and I would say they're worth it.

Another thing you could do is get the potentially infested aquatic plants and wash them in a weak solution of potassium permangenate.
