Okay, I just stumbled across this topic and am highly, highly intrigued. How expensive was your setup using this method? Also, is there any way I can tell the amount I would need for a heavily planted 55 gallon?

Your tank is absolutely beautiful- I'm not certain I want the ground cover to be as dense as yours- though admittedly I've never seen a tank that looks that good in picture. Do large schools do well in your tank? Do you think larger fish would do well in that kind of environment alongside smaller ones?

I can tell from looking at those pictures that you definitely have some things to teach newcomers.

Sorry for not answering your question, but I buy the top soil, bring it home, open it up and pour the stuff out so it can dry. Then sift it thought the window screen, and then wet/dry stuff

How did your stuff turn out?
