Default Lights for Plants

i recently put some 13 watt(60 watt equivalent) CFL bulbs and my fish seem to freak out its a 10 G tank and the 15 watt incandesant bulbs seems wayyyy too weak for any plants any suggestions?

I humbly offer the idea of using a desk lamp. I say that because it's been horribly convenient to me. This thread has information on the different non-aquarium lightbulbs, if you are leaning in that direction. Light bulb ratings for plants?

The spiral CFL is going to be much better for any plant. I would lean toward the 23 or 26W versions, but the one you have may work fine. Just make sure you get one in the right spectrum. 6500-6700K are pretty easy to find and work well.

Would 2 2700k add up to 5400k or is it still 2700

If you're going to get 2, just get the 13w.

In my 10g I used a 15Watt Life Glo light. It was specifically for growing live plants. It didn't bother the fish either.
