Hello,
I have recently switched back to freshwater after managing a reef tank for 15 years and I had a question about my lighting? Currently I have a 36W PC 50/50 over my 10 gal. The tank is 6 months old and I just made my DIY CO2 reactor today and my plants started making small O2 bubbles like crazy within hours. I think they were starved! I had to slowly add baking soda however, because I use RO/DI water and the KH was less than 1. I reached a balance of KH-2.8 and pH-6.9, so I'm happy so far. So, I was wondering which bulb you guys recommend if I were to get a new one? |

thats actualy a great light for planted tanks, and i would say if the plants are pearling so well with CO2 under it, stick with it. generaly, you only want to add CO2 in order to take advantage of strong light, giving the plant feul for photosynthesis. since your using a CO2 reactor, i wouldnt bother with stronger light. if you find the plants dont look right under that light, you might try adding a red light into the mix, or green... it wont dow much for the plants but it makes them stand out a little more.

Thank you!
I have a 55 watt ballast straight pin adapter, so can only use one bulb. The tank is a standard 10 gal dimensions. If I wanted to try a new light so the plants can utilize all the light efficiently, what options do I have? thanks again |
