Default A travelers note (having a motel room companion.)

I work for General Electric as a power quality engineer
and I travel 90% for my job. ( a lot of motel stays.)

A year ago I had a stay in Asheville NC at a Holiday inn on tunnel rd.
Next to a nice BBQ place called the fiddling pig.

And they had at the front desk 4 small beta bowls and all of them had
Happy , active Male betas with a small pice of white paper in between them
so they wouldn't get upset with each other.

I asked the clerk why were they there and she told me that
I could rent one for my room for 1$ a day.:beta:
and the proceeds go to the local animal shelter.

This is a great idea and wanted to share it.

might be pretty terrible for the fish, but at the same time, it could be improved, so that it would still work, but with better living conditions...and still get proceeds for the shelter :D

The fish looked in great shape and they were very interactive with people.
Their little bowl's were spotless and the water was clear as crystal.
I could see a little bit of algae on the substrate in the bowls telling me that
proper water changes and care has been given to the fish.
Only adults could rent the fish and they have strict instructions not to feed them.
The hotel staff would take care of it.

I was a bit concerned at first but after seeing how healthy and happy the fish were my concerns were put to rest.

Oh, each fish was named and had a little info card on what breed of fish they were and their age.

The one I picked out was Fred. A Blue veiled male beta that was 2 years old.

Thats a pretty cool idea.I agree they need better homes but when showing fish and most of the breeders keep them in small containers like that.Good to hear they were well kept and healthy.I bet they did enjoy having attention like that, someone new everytime!
