We have a member of our forum who is stationed in Afghanistan and he is without fail on this forum every day. Today he has not been here and there has been not good news from there on the TV all day. I would say that we need to be keeping him and his men in our thoughts and prayers to keep them safe and to thank them for what they are doing for us.

This is not a political issue. Whether anyone believes in the war or what is being done or not, these men are over there serving our country because they are being told by our President to be there. They are fathers, husbands and sons who would more than likely rather be with their families here at home but they are there because the job is there and it could get them killed.

I am only asking us to do the thing that any human would do for another human. Send good wishes to them in our thoughts. It is not the men doing the job that we disagree with even if we do not agree with the action. They have taken an oath to obey orders and are doing so honorably and with our best interests at heart. If you have a problem with what they are doing it is with the elected officials you and I have elected that you should have that problem with not the ones they send to do the job.

Please keep these men in your thoughts and honor their efforts in your behalf and the danger they are putting themselves in even if you do not agree with it. Please at least ask that they be returned home safely to their families in your thoughts and prayers as they are doing what they are doing for you and yours.

Agreed Rose, Its all too easy to forget even for a little while, these men and women who are under tremendous hardships of all kinds over there. We all or most at least are battling hardships of our own due to the economy right now but nobodys shot at me lately, At least not since i got out of the Military in 1971 LoL. Anyway, i add my sincere appreciation to those guys and gals, who are fighting and dying over there to keep our country free, and serving this country with Honor.

I thank you all and I will do what you asked. He has been on today contrary to what I had thought. I was overworried since I had not heard from him as I usually do. I realize they are busy and I do not want to get in the way of them doing what they need to do but I also know what they are going through and how very tentative life is there.

Thank you for your concern on his behalf and the expressions of support for the members of our service people. Anyone who has lost a member of their family or anyone they loved in the service of their country knows what the anxiety is when they do not hear or how the TV news can make you crazy some days.
