Default Need your prayers

My grandson Aiden is less than 3 years old. He has down syndrome. On Thursday my sweet baby goes into surgery to try and repair both heart valves and put in a pace maker.
Please pray that this is a success and that he pulls through it fine.

As next step is if it doesn't work is a heart transplant.

Prayers, and hang in there. Heart problems are a common condition with down syndrome children. Just be there for him and for your children. Its scary to think about a child that young going through this. But he's a little fighter to make it this long without surgery. Hugs for everyone.

We will all have you in our prayers, Its so hard to find the words to express the sympathy at a time like this, especially for me when its a child. Just be strong for him, and know we are all beside you.

Thanks everyone. This is his second surgery. The first one was at 4 months old, and we almost lost him then. He was on life support for a week as his heart swelled and stopped beating.

Aiden is such a tiny fellow and that is where most of the problems arise. He weighed a little over 2 pounds at birth due to having to be born 2 months early. He is still under 25 lbs.

Aiden is out of surgery and is doing well. Both valves were able to be replaced and the Glenn procedure was avoided. He is in his PICU room and we are waiting to see him.

Sorry about not updating this. Aiden is at home and doing good. Still having a hard time crawling or using his gait trainer because of being sore, and getting pretty bored. Goes to dr tomorrow so will post more when I get more info.

A little side note. Since he is so small and wont enjoy Disney World very much, The make a Wish program is going to build him a big Disney playground in his back yard.

What wonderful news about Aiden. And he'll have his own Disney World! The kids are so happy all the time. Later, when Aiden feels better, I hope Mom and Dad will get involved with groups of other parents and kids with DS for support and so that the kids can have 'play dates'. Its so great to see how they brighten up when they are around other kids with the same condition. And they do understand each other when they 'talk'. It is amazing. It is always a party and so much love to go around.

We are all involved with so much its time consuming. My grandson goes to the little light house school here which is privately funded. We help raise money for it all the time. Soon will be mini laps in which the kids walk, ride or even carried around the course. I got Home Depot to sponsor my grandson this year. Then in Oct. We will have the buddy walk. Which is a national fund raiser for DSAT.

My daughter volunteers at the school on a weekly basis while Aiden is in school. This is a wonderful school that takes kids as young as 6 weeks old, and they go there until they are ready to be mainstreamed into public schools. With it being a private school the tuition usually runs about 17000.00 a year, but all the kids go free, that is why we try so hard to raise the money. Also the school has no help from the gov as its a religous based private school so the gov doesn't help.
