I need an electronics guru
Ok I have some 5 volt 20 ma LEDs and I want to run them on a 12 volt power supply.
How many ohm resister do I need to make that happen? My electronics school was way to long ago to figure this out. It is not for the tank, it's for my boat. |

Fishman thanks. Ohms law I know but dealing with LEDs is a little different.
Someone sent me a resistor chart for LEDs that seems to have answered my question. Thanks again. Paul |

You could always try using a rheostat to reduce the voltage..

Thats how I did the test to figure it out but with a rheostat, I can get the LED to work but if the voltage is too high, It won't last long

I would go to Radio Scrap and get a 5vdc power supply. they are wicked cheat! Just add up how many ma (milliamps) they are to properly size the supply.
