Default I need an electronics guru

Ok I have some 5 volt 20 ma LEDs and I want to run them on a 12 volt power supply.
How many ohm resister do I need to make that happen?

My electronics school was way to long ago to figure this out.
It is not for the tank, it's for my boat.

Fishman thanks. Ohms law I know but dealing with LEDs is a little different.
Someone sent me a resistor chart for LEDs that seems to have answered my question.
Thanks again.

You could always try using a rheostat to reduce the voltage..

Thats how I did the test to figure it out but with a rheostat, I can get the LED to work but if the voltage is too high, It won't last long

I would go to Radio Scrap and get a 5vdc power supply. they are wicked cheat! Just add up how many ma (milliamps) they are to properly size the supply.
