As most of us know you can save yourself money on your water bills and recycle your used aquarium water to your indoor and outdoor landscape plants. I personally pump my used water aka waste water to 55g plastic drums outside and use that to water all my plants and flowers. I ran a 12 months experiment on lily's of the valley and the white tipped hosta's, I planted these last father's day from a freebie craigslist ad, I happened to have a pond job a few blocks away from the previous dirt they grew in and I tripled the size of both speices alone just using waste water, yes the waste water is packed full of good ferts that are excess considered in your aquaria.

Believe it or not the waste water grows plants much heartier and faster then miracle grow products do. When I plant a pond in and out I remove ALL dirt from the root systems via dunk and shake. I then hold the plants at their base and backfill then lift the plant to get the dirt under it thus letting the roots freely lay where they lie then backfill over the top, only one pack down is needed, this allows the roots basically free will in non compressed dirt. The result is bigger and better plants.

The point of this jot is to open some more minds and recycle your used water, in my town we get charged double for whatever we bring in via city water supply meter, whatever we use no matter what it is for we get charged to reclaim all that water we brought in, doesnt hardly seem fair but OK I thought since I am getting overcharged I might as well use that water for other things just to save some money, and in these times penny pinching is the norm and kinda expected it seems.

I am by far not a hippy but I love money and the more I can keep in my pocket the better and I am sure that mindset is prevelant in all of us who enjoy the hobby that can financially cause lots of personal issues not only in financial but in their personal lives as well.

I water all my houseplants with tank water, just wish I had a garden, because I can't use it all.
