I am an avid forager of CL and today I got lucky. I found a 55 gallon tank for free. Tried to email the person but it was gone in minutes. A little while later I was on again and found another 55 gall with stand but nothing else. There wasn't a picture but I figured it's free so I sent my fiance Nick to go get it while I stayed at home with our daughter. As soon as he left I saw another one for 5 dollars. I asked if I could pick it up at 3. So Nick comes home, unloads the car and I inform him of his next mission.
So off he went. This one was the tank lid and light. Then I found another for free that included everything on CL. But I decided not to inquire as Nick was already not liking the fact that we were going to have 2 55 gallon tanks in our living room! Anyway upon further inspection the first one we got is a 55 tall, oceanic tank! It is gorgeous. The other I decided to resell cause it is just too long. We thought about putting it on the coffee table but it wiggles too much and I'd rather skip the 55 gallons of fishies and water on the floor! So that was my deals today! Anyone else find any good deals?![]() |

Ha! I love finding deals like this, it's kind of like a treasure hunt. Now just to hide them from the mother-in-law...

i have been trying to buy a few aquarims off cl. I don't have much luck. I have written and called over 25 ads in the past week. No one retrns your calls or emails and they do not remove their ads. I have spammed so many but very rarely do the ads get removed by cl

Summer- we are renting from Nick's parents and his mom is all crazy about what "stuff" we can have and what not. She agreed to one fish tank so since we have 5 already set up and running... yeah we sorta got to hide them upstairs lol. She rarely visits anymore but still.
Cutlass- I've found that the free ones go within minutes, even the small ones and people usually post tanks in the early morning on weekends. Good luck! Majerah- Well my fiance wants oscars... I try to tell him it would not be plural and that would be boring. We both like live plants and have a bunch in our other tanks so that will be for sure. But as far as fish, we are still dreaming. ![]() |

Yeah plants and oscars not so much. I've flirted with the idea of a brackish aquarium... or chichlids cause Nick likes breading fish, not sure. I personally think chichlids are boring. Before we get it all set up we do plan on putting one thing in- our cat, to take some fun pictures.

Well, if he likes to breed then how about, dare I say, some betta unimaculatas? They are very pretty, nice green and blue shades, have interesting spawning behavior, and are just fascinating to watch.
Plus they are great in planted tanks and do well with tankmates as long as the tank mates cant fit into their mouths or are over nippy.

Interesting... will have to check those out!
I also forgot to mention the other tank I found... debating on wether to get it or not. It's such a good deal but I am afriad of the mother-in-law and lack of space. The person didn't know how many gallons it was but said it was 6 feet long and about a foot tall. No other measurements were given. She wanted 60 for it and an extra 10 if I wanted it delivered! |
