Default Newbie seeking advice from seasoned aquarists

Hi guys and gals,

My name is Paul, and Im extremely new to the field. (about 3 incident-free months so far)

ive got a 20L with 2 dwarf Gourami's, a brackish water angel fish, A Swartz's Cory cat, iridescent shark, 2 serpae tetras, 2 platies, 2 gold barbs, and 2 yound Congo Tetras. So far the only fatality Ive had with my new tank was a Fiddler crab that got out somehow while I was at work and ended up in my kitchen sink. I bought my entire set-up used from a pet store that had used the tank, filter, heater, ect. for quite a while. And now that Im aware of beneficial bacteria, I feel this is why ive had such good luck. But Im wanting to start a 55 I have, that I KNOW has been cleaned with Comet about 4 months ago. It has set ever since. Is there any amount of rinsing that can possibly make this tank habitable again?

Already answered your other thread about the comet.

I would like to see a pic of a brackish water angelfish. Never heard of them, Either fresh or salt.

Once you get the other tank running you need to up your cories to about 5. Right now as it stands your tank is over crowded.

Curious, what are your readings for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.

Overall pH was at 6.8 two days ago.

Ammonia was under 1ppm, not sure about the nitrate. Although I assume its low because I have zero algae.

I just did a 25% change, though. Im sure its a bit higher now, but my fish see to be doing well. They eat, theyre active, their color and gills look great.
