Default Newbie to forum and fish

Hello
As the title states me and my 4 year old son are new to fish keeping.
You will be glad to hear that we cycled our 20 gallon tank before adding any fish and then went for 6 zebra danios as nice easy starter fish.

What I would like some advice on is a good tank mate for them. My son has his heart set on a bigger colourful fish, and I want to try and please him but I'm not sure which one to plump for, if any.

I've read that angels may not get on too well with danios?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Welcome!!

My favorite (i might be a bit bias) are dwarf gouramis. I attatched a picture of mine so you can see how they look. The males have very nice colors. They do well in community tanks. I know at petco/smart they say semi agressive which is true to gouramis but the DWARF gouramis tend to be a little more timid and interact fairly well in community tanks. The dwarf versions stay farily small as well (mine is about 2 inches). With them as most gouramis they are a little more sensitive to water. Make sure to watch your level and be ritual with your water changes. (I do 20% every sunday). Angel fish are nice i have never owned one so i cannot say. I do know they can get a bit larger and with size can eat some smaller fish. But again ive never owned one so i cannot say much there. Hope this helps!

Actually I wouldnt recommend betta with zebras, they are nippers and they tend to stress them out a good bit.
