Welcome.
Someone in Florida could answer about laws, but if I were you I would look to nature - you are in a warm zone with lots of water full of plants. It wouldn't take long to google the legal collecting information to see if collecting is allowed, and where.
I've been trying to find wild sailfin mollies, and there is a lot of information out there on the small lakes and streams of Florida.

I live in a place full with ponds but there is nothing will look good in a tank.
maybe I have to look in creeks becasue the ponds close to my place are just full of minnows..good for cichlids tho.
