Default Hi from Maryland!

Hello! I am the new owner of a well-used 55g aquarium. It is well-used, but wasn't taken care of very well. I am in the process of cleaning it outside on my deck, before bringing it inside to it's new home.

I plan on using the aquarium as a winter home to my pond fish from a 35g pond, which will be upgraded to 75g in the spring. The fish are 2 baby koi, 1 goldie, and 1 pleco. I also "rescued" 6 gourami (at least that's what I think they are) from being flushed alive when the previous owner was draining the tank.

The gouramis are thriving in my pond until the aquarium is set up, and I may have someone to take them. But, for now it looks like 6 gourami, 2 small koi, 1 goldie, and a pleco.

Jay

Joey,

You're not far from me. I'm in the White Marsh area of Baltimore County.
I decided to go out and buy a new 55g, as the used tank had some issues. Hopefully, I'll get to set it up this weekend and start cycling. I will be stocking it with the fish from my pond... and I know this is an unconventional mix, but I have 1 Goldie, 1 Koi (was 2 until I noticed one missing yesterday), 1 Pleco, and 6 Gourami. Yes, the gourami are living in the pond right now. They've been there for 2 weeks and seem to love it. I wasn't sure what to feed them, but they haven't had any problems with the koi and goldfish pellets. Although, I do crush a few of the pellets to make it easier for the gourami to eat.

Some have said that I will have problems with the water temperature differences for these fish. I figure I can probably keep the tank at 70-74 degrees and have all of the fish together with no issues. I guess I'll find out soon enough!

Jay
