Default Hi from Aquatic Castle

Hi all. My name is Joe and I'm the voice behind Aquatic Castle. I have been an aquarium hobbyist for about 9 years and an enthusiast longer. I started out with a 5 gal tank with some gold fish in it. About a year or two later, I was given a 30 gal tank by a friend. This seemed large to me at the time. I used both as planted tanks for some time. Then I got a 29 gal biocube to start my reef keeping adventure. I was hooked. I bought a 45 gal tank and put it on the stand that the 30 gal was sitting on. Then I took the 30 gal and turned it into a reef tank, using a 20 gal tank as a refugium. It was at this time, I decided to start a store. This was a big learning experience and everything was at an experimental level for some time. Small tank, small store etc. You can put a lot of coral in a 30 gal tank with no rocks though. I decided 30 gal was too small to even experiment with a store, so I embarked on my latest project.

It's a 4'X2' two tier tank system with at 12" tall tank 60 gal tank on top and a 17 3/4" tall tank on the bottom that holds 87 gal. Under them, sits a 37 gal refugium. Everything was built from scratch by me except the top tank that I bought, the protein skimmer, and the steel shelves. Those my dad built out of angle steel.

All of the tanks except for the 5 gal are running right now. The 5 gal is in the closet. I have a plan for it though.

I was going to post an image of me with the newest system however; this system won't allow it until I make 5 posts. I did upload the image to my profile though. You can see it there.
