Default Hello from Socal!

My name is Gary and I am a college student in San Diego. I bought a fish tank for my dorm room primarily as a decoration, but fell in love with taking care of my fish and customizing my setup. I joined here to learn more about my fish and make sure that I'm not doing anything to harm them.
I bought a 10 gallon tank from Petkingdom, as it was the biggest my RA would let me get and I currently have 5 fish living in it:
1 pleco
3 guppies (2 females, 1 male, good ratio huh?)
1 dwarf gourami

In the tank, I have a few real plants and 2 fake plants, along with an old milk bottle.
Anyway, on to the pictures.

Welcome!

Very nice!

If the Pleco is a common Pleco, then you're going to need to re-home him. They grow to around 24" inches. Keeping him in a small tank will stunt his growth so his skeleton stops growing, but his organs keep growing. So he'll esentially explode from the inside. Very painful. There are many different pleco's that stay small. You could try a Bristle Nose Pleco, or a Zebra Pleco or a Clown Pleco.

Plecos also need real drift wood in their tanks, as they eat it as part of their diet. (Clown plecos are big wood eaters.) But any pleco really needs wood.

Thank you! The guy that worked at the pet store said my pleco was nearly full size, but if he starts to get too big, I'll give him away to someone with a bigger tank. Where do you suggest I get driftwood? Thanks for the advice.

Welcome. You'll have a little time to decide on the pleco.
