Default Hello from Cali!

I'm new to this, both forums and aquariums so any advice is always appreciated I've been doing a lot of research and found browsing forums very helpful.

My tank is only 5.5 gallons...if I had known what I know now I would have bought bigger...none the less I'm determined to get it right with this one before getting a 20 gallon.

I set it up about 3 and a half weeks ago with gravel, caves, power filter which hangs over side, conditioned water, heater, thermometer and alodea plant. After recieving bad advice that I only needed to wait a week for fish I bought a snail, ghost shrimp and African Dwarf Frog. The ghost shrimp died within a couple days :( and I've since read up on the nitrogen cycle and have a pretty good understanding of it. The Ivory Mystery snail and ADF seem ok (so far). I had the water tested and was advised to buy Nitromax to speed up the cycling process (although I'm not sure how well this works after researching online). I know the tank probably isn't where it needs to be yet but I did order a kit to be able to test ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and PH on my own.

SO, this is how I ended up here =/ A little backwards but on the right track now. I do have a few questions, but seeing as this is just introductions ? I'll save them for another post..I'm guessing that's how this works ? Help! lol

Thanks for reading!
Heather

Welcome to the forum! This is a super friendly forum and you'll find that everyone is willing and eager to help you!

I have 2 African Dwarf Frogs! They are super cute and I'm sure you will LOVE yours! Once you move to a 20g, you can even get another one! (I think I read that they each need 5g's or so, and they enjoy company.) Mine get hand fed from long tweezers and have learned to come out for feedings when I click the tweezers in the water. XD
