Is there a way to delete old threads?

I am having the hardest problem trying to delete old threads. I even clicked every button in the User CP and thought it would work. I even googled to try to find the answer but no luck.

We don't delete old threads as most of the time they can be used for references to other threads.

Oh because sometimes my threads dont get any replies and I eventually find the answer days later and I come back to still see my old thread still unanswered so I wanted to delete =D.

That sometimes happens, but I think the only ones that has the options of deleting it after the first day is mods and admin. Sometimes days and months ahead someone will pop in there and give a direct answer or ask if you had found that answer and it will help someone later on.
