Ive noticed that there have been lots of SPAM or adverts lately. Has this site always attracted this kind of attention? Is there anything we can do about it?? Maybe try and approve members? so we don't get this junk on here??

yup... they're really running amuck lately it seems...

the best thing you can do is report the post with little triangle with an exclamation mark in it

Its happening on all forums, as we get them we try to ban them. But for some reason I am having trouble with one of them opening so I can ban them.

Please just click the report post icon if you ever see any. We do a lot to thwart spam. Most actually is prevented. Some gets through though. We continue to improve the way its prevented. In the interim, if you see any, this is the icon to click:

As the others have said. Out most important tool to fight spam is our users. When you guys report the post all moderators get an email and in most cases it is taken care of very fast.

Does the forum software permit Captchas? That could go a long way towards preventing a lot of unwanted posts.

A forum Isn't a major forum unless it goes through a stage of spam. As they all said, its the members that have to help the staff catch it.

I moved to a different county back in May 2011 and started high school in a totally different school district. So I'm still adjusting and studying hard, and don't presently have any aquariums. But once I do, I'll be right back on this forum!
