Im not sure if im just being dumb or what. But we all get the hot topic emails and the latest thread emails on a regular basis. But I have never got an email inviting me to take part of the monthly big polls or little "in-forum" competitions eg tank of the month

But as a recent poll showed out of the how ever many members are on here the turn out on the vote was somewhat erm...lame.

That being the tank of the month award poll in. The amount of people voted could be more, but it could be a simple reason people forgot or didnt see the post at the time etc.

I reckon more people could be involved if an email was sent to members giving them the opportunity to place their tanks in the tank of the month (some people may not realise it actually happens for example) and it might encourage some less known faces on here to emerge and get involved. But a follow up email with the thread link to vote for the final results. Something like this would get more people involved in my personal opinion and gives a wider range of people to get involved in the forum where they may not have been before.

I know i ramble but just thought id share this as im sure alot of people would like to see more involvement in forum occasions such as mentioned. And just a simple email would help things like this.

I may end up doing this at some point. I agree that the voting turnout for these competitions is pretty poor, but also remember that a fair number of the newly registered members on this board come here for answers to problems, and once they get those answers they typically don't hang around until they have another problem. It's nothing against them, but it is what it is.

I'll keep it in mind for the next competition, though. Thanks for the input!

Yeah I see the point of alot of new members looking for one thing then disappearing it kinda a hourly event as it seems. But something like mentioned just might push enough for some extra involvement from people.

To be honest I only just realised there was such a poll by pure chance i clicked new posts and it was top of the page, and im on the forum daily and didnt even realise we did it. So pin pointing issues and emailing them to people would help alot

It's feedback such as this that helps us continue to make things better and better. The tank of the month contest is something I always wanted to improve on our methods of executing it. We'll get there. We need a much more automated system to do the TOTM and this will come with time. I have a lot of ideas to make TOTM better and emails are part of it. It all needs to be automated much better. We'll get there.

Just a query on the TOTM, can we make a set date of when they happen because it will make alot more people aware and knowing of what it is and when it happens, because ive been waiting for the past week or 2 just waiting for it to pop up as i havent seen anything to show when it will be if at all?, just curious because i like the concept lol.
