Two new forums today, thanks for the suggestions Tyler! (awesome suggestions!)

This forum is for reviews of aquarium related products, new product announcements, questions about a particular product, and all other product review type threads. Fresh, Salt, Pond, etc., (anything goes).

Store and Seller Reviews
This forum is for reviewing particular stores, online or offline, as well as reviews of particular sellers here in the forum.

If anyone sees any or knows of any existing threads that would be better in those forums, and should be moved there, please let us know the link to the threads and we will move them. Thanks!

Default Re: If you have any suggestions for the site...

o and i got 2 others u could do.

1. some type of forum section for minors. when i joined, i noted i was never asked my age as a required question. if a kid joined, they could be cursed at or disrespected, to which may be very insulting to the kid. if u make age a required question, below 13 would mean permission slip from parents, which since i am below 13, would cause a big hullaboloo for me to re-join a site i already fairly joined. if u make a "Kids Corner" type of forum, where cursing and child inappropriate things are strictly prohibited, all would be well, accept, of course, a child misses it. if so, than u remind people of it in the PM u give everyone when they join this site.

2. Forum to discus latest news about aquatic animals outside the aquarium i.e. a frog species recently discoverred, or a new place declared a national park for aquatic wildlife.

no ive never been cursed at on this site but if a child is talked to child inapropiantly, like curses that adults don't classify as a curse, might get the child into copying them. that would definately affect this webstites reputation. i visit all the other sections, but a new member joins everyday so if a Child-disrespectful person may get into a squabble with a kid...

I have a suggestion about the smilies.

Would there be a way to "lock in" your favorite smilies so you don't have to open the [More] area to get to the favorite one or two that are used all the time. I only basically use one of them (the betta of course LOL) and I have to dig it out every time.

Thanks,

Rose

If this is too much work just forget it, but thought I would ask.

A new to the hobby, newbie, section might be a good thing to have so all questions from people just starting out could be in one place and get answered faster by the more experienced fish keepers. It would also be a good place to sticky threads on things like how to go about doing a fishless cycle or how to survive a fish-in cycle. Some other sticky thoughts would be easy to keep plants or even the easy to care for fish.
When too many people who are new at keeping fish get together there seems to be an explosion of poor advice due to misinterpretations that the stickies might help stave off. It would give a base to refer back to.

Agree. We recently put the link for Unanswered Posts in the navbar and dressed it up a bit with some blinking lights. This is the link:
Unanswered Posts
So that makes it really easy as everyone browses around the site hopefully they will click it and find some threads in need of a response. You never know, you might have the answer to save someone's tank.

Great idea, thanks. I'll setup a new to the hobby section for each: freshwater and saltwater. We can copy some threads into those sections and stick them. Please let me know what threads you think would be really useful to copy over.

That will help a lot as a lot of them have been using the introductory posts to ask their questions and that does cause a problem because I think they would get a lot more exposure and better answers from this new format. I will try to encourage the questions to go to the new forum gently.

Thanks a lot for moving the little Betta...Lol I do use it a lot.

Strongly agree, There will be NO cursing at children or anyone else here:mad:. This type of behavior will not be tolerated. There of course will be disagreements but those can be worked out in a friendly fashion, or when it comes to blows just walk away.

Direct quote from the TOS Rules list: 3. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. We take politeness very seriously. You are welcome to challenge others points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully.
